New England Cottontail Conservation Initiative

Partners working to save the New England cottontail include federal and state agencies, wildlife organizations, private companies, towns and municipalities, land trusts, zoos, universities, and foresters helping people manage their land. Partners protect, create, and renew important young forest and shrubland across the species' six-state range. Wildlife scientists conduct research, monitor local and regional populations, and use zoo-based conservation breeding to help this rare native rabbit survive.
